Exciting changes at Turning Point:

Spring 2007 heralds an important change at Turning Point Acupuncture: Naomi Rabinowitz, MD, the founder and director of the practice, is handing the leadership over to her senior associate, Shane Hoffman, MacOM, LAc. The practice will continue to adhere to the standards of excellence that has characterized the practice from its inception in 1985 and will continue to provide medical care at the interface between Western and Chinese Medicine. Shane Hoffman, having been an integral member of the practice since 1999, is the ideal practitioner to carry the work forward. A timely synchronicity: he is about to be awarded a doctoral degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine (DAOM) from his alma mater, the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

When Turning Point Acupuncture was established Dr. Rabinowitz, a physician trained in both Eastern and Western Medicine, she felt compelled to adapt Traditional Chinese Medicine to the needs of contemporary urbanites. She recognized that the extreme environment of our cities and our fast-paced culture exacted a huge physical, emotional and spiritual toll on the individual. These stressors could cause internal patterns of disharmony that were unique to modern life, manifesting in poor physical, emotional and spiritual health. In practice, she found it necessary to modify the application of Chinese Medicine to address these modern conditions. Overtime she was joined in this work by her associates: Shane Hoffman, MAcOM, LAc, Amanda Silver, MS, LAc, and Kymberly Kelly, MS, LAc.

New Yorkers are sophisticated people interested in wellness and healthy aging. At Turning Point Acupuncture, acupuncture and Chinese herbs are utilized, in addition to diet, exercise, and stress management strategies, to address an individual's immediate health needs, while strengthening and rebalancing the body's underlying energetic forces to achieve harmony and a sense of well-being in today's difficult world. The practitioners at Turning Point regularly tailor individual health maintenance programs to support those efforts. To that end, facial rejuvenation acupuncture is offered as a special service. Massage (Swedish and Mayan Abdominal Massage) and Reiki are also available at the practice.

Dr. Rabinowitz is now practicing in Colorado. To visit her website and to read her articles (see list of articles here) and newsletters click on this link: www.longmontacupuncture.net
